Natural Tea Art Workshop | LVL I -  Beginner friendly

Instructor: Alan Pippy | Includes: 2 hours of instruction & supplies

Bored with the same old paints? Join local Artist and tea lover, Alan Pippy as he introduces you to innovative techniques for using non-traditional "paint" derived from tea, to encourage freedom and expression. Let's face it, traditional art supplies will only take you so far! Sometimes you just need to try something new.

During this workshop you will learn how to:

  • Source materials

  • Prepare tea to dye using a mordant to bind the pigment & prevent fading

  • Prepare tea to paint with (both loose & bagged teas)

  • Techniques: staining, splattering & adding details

  • Plan colors in advance & layering to create intricate patterns

This workshop concludes with a relaxing hot cup of tea for your enjoyment. Participants will get to take home four 3 ML bottles of tea paint to continue the fun.

Needle Felting Workshop | LVL 1 - Beginner friendly

Instructor: Jacquelyn Miccolis | Included: 2 hrs of instruction & supplies

Learn everything you need to know to begin needle felting in a relaxing and supportive environment. In this beginner friendly workshop, you will learn how to make your own wall hanging. Jacquelyn will guide you through the steps with ease, as you create a beautiful decoration for your home.

Needle felting is simple in concept, but looks complex in execution and the results are elaborate sculptures made completely out of wool. Essentially, the activity uses a special needle to fuse fibers together in a stiff form.

Macramé Leaf/Feather Wall Hanging | LVL 1 - Beginner friendly
Instructor: Jacquelyn Miccolis | Included: 2 hrs of instruction & supplies

During this workshop we will dive into the beautiful world of Macramé! Macramé is a form of textile produced using knotting (rather than weaving or knitting) techniques.

Jacquelyn will guide you through the steps to making your own wall hanging, with two bohemian style leaves/feathers. Participants will be guided through the steps with both verbal instruction, as well as an information sheet, acting as a visual aid, during this zero contact workshop.

This is an excellent class for beginners, who have little to no experience making macramé. No previous experience needed, just the willingness to learn! Join us for a friendly and relaxing evening of crafting for adults in downtown Halifax.
