Watercolor Figure Painting

Included: Watercolor Pad (to take home), Supplies, 2.5 hrs Instruction & Professional NSCAD trained Model

During this workshop participants will learn the basics of figure painting using watercolors. With guided step-by-step instruction, learn about capturing dominant shapes and gestures of a pose, while editing the less significant details.. Explore cool and warm tones of the figure and shadowing.You can expect to complete two paintings during this workshop.


Please note that there will be a nude model present and respect is mandatory. Participants must be 18+ years of age to participate or have a parent/guardian present to sign a waiver before the class begins.

Whimsical Folk Art 

Lvl I Beginner

During this workshop participants will dive in the enchanting world of folk art, with a touch of whimsy. This style of art has gained popularly, because of  Nova Scotia's beloved artist, Maud Lewis. Her colorful and cheerful folk artwork has become a cherished staple of our province.

This an excellent class for  beginner painters, as we will be focusing on the joy of this simplistic style of playful art. Working with fun patterns and elements inspired by nature, you will learn how to create your own masterpiece.

Perspective Art - Cityscape: Lvl I Beginner

The best part of a city is it's dazzling skyline.  During this workshop, participants will learn how to draw a stunning cityscape using a two point perspective. You will be introduced to the basics of watercolor painting, while adding some beautiful color to your drawing.


Perspective drawing helps add depth and dimension to your artwork. Learn a simple way to draw a cityscape, beginning with a two point perspective drawing.

Participants will learn the primary concepts behind perspective art, such as: vanishing points, horizon line, eye level, and relative size. By learning these basic concepts, this will allow you to accurately and realistically draw and/or paint the environment around you.

Horizon Palette Knife Painting | Lvl I Beginner

Instructor: Alan Pippy

Included: 2.5 hrs of instruction,12" x 30" canvas & supplies

During this workshop you will learn how to paint a dreamy seascape with a sunset horizon, using acrylic paint and a palette knife.

A great way to add impact to a painting is to use a palette knife, to create layers of textured color. With a palette knife you can create effects that aren't possible with a paint brush.


During this workshop you will be guided through the steps, one at a time and create your own mesmerizing masterpiece to take home with you.

Learn how to:

  • Use a palette knife

  • Create thin lines using the edge

  • Scraping Method

  • Dragging/Blending Technique

  • Multicolored Palette Paint Strokes


Abstract Skyline Painting

Loosen up your painting style while exploring the beauty of abstract art. 

During this workshop you will learn how to create a colorful city skyline, which is the outline or shape created by a city's overall structure. With step by step instructions, you will learn about the characteristics of acrylic paints and brushes.

  • Paint an abstract silhouette

  • Building texture with a palette knife

  • Color mixing and layering colors
